Welcome to my blog page.

Wow what a week, having just returned from a week shooting over my dogs in the Scottish Borders.  This is necessary preparation for trialling and is also good practice for any dog as it teaches steadyness and gets the dogs used to the real thing whilst still in a 'training' environment ie: the line would stop whilst problems were sorted out.
We were part of a party organised by Steve and Coshy Kimberley which consisted of English Springer Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, German Short Haired Pointers, German Wire Haired Pointers, Long Haired Wermereiner, Gordon Setter and Chocolate long haired Pointer.
Have to say that the spaniels stole the show somewhat being the most steadiest and competant in the field, it was a real pleasure to see them working and doing the job they were bred for. They certainly provided the guns with the most sport being very thorough in their hunting patterns and not missing game (which seemed to sit very tight). I believe that they provided 95% of the birds shot.
This sort of training is ideal and anyone who is interested we are already planning a trip back to Scotland next year.
